From passion project to identity pro: Sebastian’s journey at Resilient

Sebastian’s story didn’t begin with a textbook IT degree, it began with curiosity. As a teenager, he was already active on online forums, building websites with HTML and CSS, and helping his uncle working on electronics. “I was fascinated by how things work,” he recalls. “I built an online community from scratch, just to connect people. That’s when I knew I wanted to work in IT, it just clicked.”

That early passion led him to study system and network administration, followed by an internship at a small IT firm where he supported other companies with their IT infrastructure. From there, his career steadily evolved, gaining hands-on experience in support, systems engineering, and consulting roles.

A new chapter with familiar faces

The next chapter began when a few familiar names reached out. “I had worked closely with Geert, Robin and Peter before,” Sebastian says. “When they started Resilient Security, it immediately felt like something I wanted to be a part of.”

That sense of connection still defines his experience. “It’s rare to find a company where the team dynamic is this strong. You’re not just doing your job, you’re part of something,” he explains. “We have fun, we support each other, and we genuinely enjoy being around one another, even outside office hours.”

The atmosphere? “Informal, collaborative, and human. I come into the office with a smile, and honestly, I’d love to come in even more often if my customer work allowed it.”

Building identity solutions that matter

At Resilient, Sebastian plays a key role in the Identity Governance & Administration (IGA) Essentials track. He helps clients design and configure secure, efficient identity processes tailored to their organization. “I love what I do,” he says. “I get to build things that make a real difference for clients, from both a security and operational standpoint.”

He also serves as Product Owner for both PAM and IGA Essentials. “It’s exciting to think long-term, how we evolve the product, what features we invest in. There’s a lot of freedom to take initiative here, and that suits me.”

Keeping it human

If you ask Sebastian what drives him, his answer is simple: being there for the client. “I want our clients to feel heard,” he says. “Even something as small as picking up the phone right away, it shows you’re present.” He finds satisfaction in building solutions that matter, not in taking the spotlight. “It’s about being part of the impact, even if I don’t get all the credit.”

Words of wisdom

For those just starting out, Sebastian offers this advice: “Give yourself time. Don’t expect to be ‘there’ overnight. I’ve been in that position where I thought, ‘I’ll never reach that level.’ But you do, step by step.”

And if you’re wondering what fuels a day at Resilient? “They could wake me up in the middle of the night for a good côte à l’os,” he grins. “Food is a big thing here.”
