A behind-the-scenes look with Arne: intern at Resilient Security
In June 2024, Arne graduated with a professional bachelor’s degree in Electronics-ICT, specializing in cloud and cybersecurity. His passion for these fields led him to search for an internship, and thanks to a LinkedIn post by HR Manager Britt, he found his way to Resilient Security.
A warm welcome
“I was immediately drawn to what Resilient does,” Arne explains. “The combination of security and consultancy really fascinated me.” His first day at Resilient Security felt like a warm welcome. “The conversations about the content of my internship were very reassuring. I was quickly invited to join various client meetings, which made me feel involved with the team right away.”
Work hard, play hard
At Resilient, there’s a balance of hard work and fun, creating an informal yet productive environment. “There’s a lot of interaction and conversation within the team, but the hard work never stops,” Arne shares. “From day one, you become part of a warm team and are immediately included in the group dynamic. What I really appreciated was that I could approach not just my mentor, Wout, but the entire team with questions.”
Tackling challenges
Arne had the opportunity to choose from three different projects and picked one that genuinely intrigued him: creating security dashboards for clients. “It was a challenge that kept me busy for the full three months,” he says. “I also had direct contact with clients, presenting my project to them and receiving feedback. The trust I was given felt amazing.”
There was also plenty of room to grow. “I love programming and made that clear upfront. My project was a fun combination of programming and cloud security, an area where I didn’t have much experience but wanted to learn more. I enjoy stepping out of my comfort zone, and I certainly learned a lot!”
A close team
The team atmosphere at Resilient left a lasting impression on Arne. “You can tell the team is tightly knit! There’s so much knowledge and expertise within the group. I made an effort to speak with everyone and learn about their roles in security, which motivated me even more to pursue a career in this field.”
Arne’s internship ended with a celebration, which he described as a special moment. “It truly felt like recognition, as if I had become part of the team. It was an incredible experience!”
Looking ahead
As his internship came to a close, Arne found himself at a crossroads: continue studying or enter the workforce? “I’ve considered further studies, but I haven’t found a suitable one-year program. That’s why I’m definitely planning to speak with Resilient again to see if I can continue my journey here.”
Arne’s tip for future interns
“Take the time to explore what your colleagues are working on. At school, we learn a lot, but not everything. During my internship, I was introduced to new concepts I hadn’t encountered before, which helped me better understand cybersecurity and choose a direction to pursue further.”
Arne’s experience at Resilient has not only equipped him with new knowledge and skills but also given him a sense of belonging in a team where he feels completely at home. We’re excited to see where his path will take him next!
